A glacier adventure!

So much hiking.  Sigh, where should this fox go?  Perhaps I should ask some locals for an idea.  This bear who is patiently holding a fish told me to check out Danny On Trail in the Flathead National Forest.  I'm not 100% sure so I decided to ask for a second opinion from this mountain goat.  Yep, they both suggested Danny On Trail.

Let's go.  The trail looks nice.  Lot's of beargrass along the way.

Getting closer to the top of the mountain.  The bear I talked to said that there is a visitors center and restaurant.  Sounds like a great place for lunch.

Ahhhhh, it was nice to relax with a nice soda while I wait for my lunch.  Grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup.  

Hiking and traveling  is hard work.  Luckily I know how to relax.  These beers should hold me over till dinner. 

A non hiking adventure in Glacier.

Last night I was enjoying some wine last night and decided that I needed to broaden my adventure at Glacier.

I decided to spend some time exploring Lake McDonald Lodge on Lake McDonald in Glacier.

Lot's of stuff to do at the lodge.  Looks like I can take a bus tour.  

Inside, the hotel has a great lobby.  

It's dark inside but you can see some cool lampshades from the the hotel was built in the 1920s by the Great Northern Railway Company to draw tourists to Glacier.  It was a good idea, it worked very well.  Last year 2.9 million people visited Glacier National Park.

You can see that I really liked these lampshades.

It was dark inside but outside it was beary nice.  Oh, is that a boat?  I wonder if they offer cruises for stuffies. 

Looks like they do.  I will have to wait for a stuffy friendly cruise but the views look worth it.

I am on dry land and decided to wander around.  I saw a cool totem pole outfront of the hotel.

Ah, time for a rest. This rocking chair looks comfy.  I wonder if they would deliver some lunch to me out here.

A quick jaunt to Canada.

Little Fox here.  Instead of hiking in Glacier National Park today, I grabbed my passport and headed to our neighbors to the north.  Canada, specifically Wild Rose Country....aka Alberta.

My destination today is Waterton National Park.  Waterton and Glacier are international peace parks so that's kind of cool.  

The peace park was dedicated in 1932 to honor the friendship between Canada and the United States. 

It's a quiet day in Waterton Township.  That place on the hill looks famous.

Oh, this is the famous Prince of Wales Hotel.  It was a railroad hotel built by the Great Northern to increase tourism along there route through Montana. 

The Prince of Wales hotel was named in honor of the Prince of Wales with the hope that he would visit.  Built in 1927 in the style of a Swiss chalet and is considered one of Canada's grandest railroad hotels.  Fun fact, it was named after the Prince of Wales in a blatant attempt to lure him to stay there on his tour across Canada.  The Great Northern RR (the company that build the hotel) hoped for some free advertising if the prince stayed there.  He never stayed at the famous hotel....instead he lodged at a local ranch. 

The lobby is really nice.  Here is the first phone installed in the hotel.  Excuse me while I order room service. 

The views on the outside are really pretty too.  The Waterton Township is off to the right and the United States is at the far end of the lake. 

As with most fancy hotels food is expensive.  I ran into these guys outside a market in Waterton and they sent me in the right direction to find some food with a nice view of the lake. 

Homemade mountainberry pie.  Yep, this will hold a fox over till dinner time. Time to head back to the United States.  While in Canada I had to get a bag of all dressed ruffles since they don't sell that kind of chips in the USA.  

Back in Babb, Montana.  Time for dinner.  This place is packed, it must be good. 

Off to Glacier!

Little Fox here.  I have my seatbelt fastened and I am ready for takeoff.

After a quick flight I have arrived at my destination and I was greeted by this awesome fella.

Once I arrived at the airport I needed to get in a rental car and drive for a while. Right now I am lucky enough to be traveling threw Glacier National Park.

Little Fox has arrived!  I am in Babb, Montana relaxing. 

A good sized glass of wine and some snacks.

Sunset has come. I need to get a good nights sleep as I am sure there is a hike in my near future.

Be careful of the bears. 

What amazing scenery.  I am off to Grinnel Glacier today.
