Mail Call

Big Bear, Drunk Fox, and I are enjoying a little comedy show provided by Kermit the Frog.  Kermit's been keeping a low profile at our place but he's addicted to the spotlight so we often get free comedy shows thrown by him.
Reindeer, our resident mail carrier, has a ton of mail that has been stockpiled up in his mailbox.

First up.  It's from Ajdin.  Who needs a return address when you have a stamp with your photo on it?
.
Ah yes.  It's an award for the Stuffie Talent Show.  I got third place.  Not a bad showing for this Little Fox.
In full disclosure, Kermit did help me with writing the jokes and working the audience.  This award belongs to both of us.
Next up:  A card from Bar.  Remember, Bar was helping out with Sandy's blog while Sandy was travelling this summer.
I bet there is a certain mouse who might recognize this postcard.  Actually, that is one of my favorite pictures from Beanie's human.  Thanks Bar.
Being that Reindeer spent some time at the North Pole and Drunk Fox and I came from Ikea we figured we were the best choice to present this next card from Ajdin.   Looks like Ajdin went to Iceland this summer.   Lucky bear.  I have heard Iceland is amazing.

Next up: Sandy, Jerry, and Ben sent a nice card (I always like Native American artwork).  They had a great time on vacation this year in Canada.  Exploring the beach, eating dinner at Grandma's and working hard in the kitchen.

Small town adventure and a mini safari

Last stop on the big Colorado trip.  I'm in Baker City, Oregon.  Yep, the Oregon Trail went through here but I am not looking at history today.  I am on safari.

I got an early start.  Baker City is on the interstate  but the cool stuff is a few miles off the interstate.

Downtown is pretty quiet (of course it's about 6:30am).
The Geiser Grand Hotel.  An old hotel from the gold mining days.  It was closed in 1968 and during the 1990s the hotel got remodeled.
The hotel has lots of history.  Old artifacts (perhaps an episode of Little Fox Archaeologist will take place), ghost stories and a particularly interesting story about catching robbers.
It's a fancy hotel.  No doubt.
In 1959 a hotel clerk helped apprehend a group of robbers.  The robbers tied up the clerk.  She told them that she had arthritis.  The robbers took pity on her and tied her up loosely.  The clerk got out of the knot and called the police.  Robbers apprehended.
Town is still quiet.  This fox needs coffee.
I came across this coffee shop.  It's open.  Love the old piano.

More interesting, they have lots of Calgary Stampede posters from the 1990s.  Apparently, the coffee shop is run by some Canadians.  I wonder if the owner competed in the stampede?
Time to go for a little walk or should I say safari?
I believe there is a saying  about not messing with the bull.....
Ahh, baby giraffes.
Is that a crocodile or an alligator?
Wandering around provided me with much entertainment.  I found the county seat and courthouse.

.
Courthouse is closed to visitors at this hour.  Looks like a building from back in the day.  Baker City was a gold rush town.  It was a pretty nice little town.  Baker City's nickname is Queen of the Inland Empire.
Time for breakfast before I hit the road.  Should I eat at the Antlers Hotel?

Perhaps I should check out the Royal Restaurant
.  They have a lounge and great food according to the sign.

A birthday for a little fox.

Party time!

Those two words are the easiest way to get Drunk Fox's attention.  Actually, Drunk Fox has been hired by Kermit to give him "notes" on his new comedy material.  Drunk Fox has spent lots of time in clubs, bars, and other drinking establishments so he knows good comedy.

As you may or may not know Drunk Fox is my only relative.  He's actually a very good uncle, he's always around the house, has sage advice, and is an expert on bar food.  He wanted to make sure he was around when I opened my mail.
It's one beary important day today.  My birthday.  That's right folks.  My roommates delivered some mail.

First up is a card from D.W.D.  I wonder who that could be?
Oh, a handmade card.....I know who D.W.D is.
Droppy, Angus, Spunky, and Patch sent a nice card wishing me a happy birthday with lots of chicken.  These guys know what I like.

Thanks Team Droopy.

Jerry and Ben sent a nice message via email wishing me a happy birthday.  They mentioned it was kind of cold in their hometown, I hope they are stocked up on hot cocoa, cookies, and other assorted snacks to make it through the winter.

Let's see my second card comes from Sandy.  I can see his signature stamp in the right hand corner.
Ah, that's a better photo of the stamp.

Lots of stickers too.  I seem to recall that his grandma was doing some spring cleaning and getting rid of stickers.  I must be an important fox since I got three stickers.
What a cool card.  Sandy wishes me a nice birthday, with lots of chicken and turkey and a few hikes thrown in for good measure.
Sandy has a good sense of what I like.

Thanks for the birthday wishes and the fox card.

Do you see the mouse in the left hand side of the card.  This brings me to my next card.  It's not a birthday card per se but the timing is right.  The mouse reminds me of the rat and if you are familiar with the Lunar New Year 2020 is the year of the rat.

My pal Julie Jane Zebra, Elsie and Person sent me a nice card for new year.
It's a happy new year card.
Julie Jane, Elsie and Person got a new rabbit this last Christmas.  Can't wait to meet rabbit.

Speaking of rabbits......the animal that represents my birth year is the rabbit.

Drunk Fox's Chinese New Year animal is the tiger.

Sequoia's animal is the year of the dragon (could you imagine how cool it would have been if Sequoia was born during the year of the dog).
As you can see, Sequoia is less than interested in his zodiac animal sign.

Stuffie pals.... what is your zodiac animal sign?

Park City Utah adventure and new friends.

Hello Blog World.
Little Fox here.  I decided to take a stop on my way home from Utah to Oregon.  Park City Utah, close to Salt Lake City is a nice little mountain community.
Golf Courses aren't really my thing but I must admit it looks like a fun place to explore.
While wandering around the resort I came across a few cool friends.

Here I am trying to imitate this wolf.  HOWLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.
I have never met an unfriendly bear.
Another view of my buddy.
These animals were super friendly.  I decided to get a closer view of the area via a hike (go figure).
I like how they have to post a sign to be nice.  Let's see:  Slow down (this hike shares the route with mountain bikers), smile, and think safety first.  I can follow those rules.
Aspen groves.
The end of the summer wildflowers.  Do you see the ski lift in the background.  I appreciate how the mountain area is open to hikers and mountain bikers in the summer.
Do you see the butterfly?
An abandoned building?
Probably not a mine.  Maybe an old ski lodge?

I made it back to the resort where I had my roommates park.  Lots to explore but this fox has to get back to Oregon.
Of course there is one more stop before the nights lodging.  Lunch.  I have never been to a Zaxby's chicken restaurant before but being that it has the name chicken in it I am game.
Lot's of deep fried chicken.  This fox got a compromise.  Some deep fried chicken tenders on a salad.
