Time to head home (well almost)

 Hiya Gang.
Little Fox and I here.  Today Little Fox has offered to take me around Hood River.  It's near The Dalles and on the way home why not.

Hood River is a super popular town.  Today we are doing a volksmarch around town.  Hoping to see some sight (check off the Columbia River).
Met this cool dinosaur outside of the gas station.  This guy is in great shape (except for that pesky sticker on it's side).

A mile or so away from the dinosaur we came across this pedestrian bridge. It goes across the Hood River (which flows into the Columbia).  Sadly no spawning salmon in the Hood River.
What a nice day. Along the way the volksmarch organizers had all sorts of public art.  This is one our favorites.
So much more adventuring to do.  Lunch, cocktails and a drive home.  This little fox and bear need their rest.

In search of the perfect pumpkin for J and B's content

Oh hello there.
Little Fox at the helm of the blog today.  I am on a quest to find a good Jack-O-Lantern picture for Jerry and Ben's Halloween Contest.   No, I am not going as a goat.  Although I did see this cute animal on my adventure.
Today, my goal is to find a Jack-O-Lantern picture to enter into the contest.  Any good quest starts with lunch.  Yum, chips.
Oh my goodness.  A whole sub sandwich for me?  Chicken Parmesean?  Are you serious?  Is this my birthday?  Who knows for sure, BUT I am a VERY lucky fox today.
I can't wait to dig into this.
Now that I have had a proper lunch it's time to explore stop #1. I saw this pumpkin and it's kind of intersting but not really what I am looking for.
Now, why am I not carving a pumpkin this year?  Well, my carving team (aka roommates) are short on time this year and afraid I won't make the deadline.  So, Little Fox is going to find a Jack-O-Lantern to adopt so I can take a picture.
My, I hope this doesn't disqualify me....

Not to sway any judges but the next stop had lots of local honey.  Judge Jerry, are you paying attention?
The next stop was an ice cream shop and bakery and they had a Jack-O-Lantern to boot.  I like him but he's not my favorite yet.
Judge Jerry.....this place has lots of homemade pies.   Any suggestions on which one to send your way?
Okay, enough blatant bribing of Judge Jerry.  The next stop had a little Jack-O-Lantern.  Not too bad.  It's a good size for a little fox.
Same Jack-O-Lantern but a different view.  Better but I am not 100% sure it's the one for the contest.
This is a nice harvest scene.  Pumpkins, my Jack-O-Lantern, and an old box.  I think this picture will do.
Time to celebrate.  A mission accomplished.  I think I will have some cider.
Wait!   This cider sampler is missing one.  I need to have a strict conversation with my roommates about the missing cider.

Jerry and Ben, thank you for hosting the contest.  I can't wait to see the results.

Road Trip

Sandy has been a great guest and I feel like I should treat him to a truly American adventure, that's right readers we are going on a road trip.
Little Fox:  Sandy, get your puffy green jacket we are taking a road trip.
Sandy: Yes!

Our first stop is to Multnomah Falls.   Multnomah falls is over 620 feet long and because of the recent rain it's flowing well.
Little Fox: It's a little misty near the falls but totally worth it.
Sandy:  Is that a bridge near the falls?  Can we go?
Little Fox: An adventure?  You bet, that's my middle name, let's go.
Sandy: Looks like the trail is closed.  Guess I will have to come back to Portland in the Summer to visit the trail.  Mama, did you get the hint?
Little Fox: Beary subtle hint Sandy, beary subtle indeed.
Multnomah Falls is a very popular attraction.  It used to be the most popular attraction in Oregon until they opened a casino about 20 years ago.  Now, Multnomah Falls is the number two attraction.
Sandy: An old lodge.  I hear they have good breakfasts there?
Little Fox: They do have a good breakfast but no views of the falls.
Sandy: Little Fox and I waited by this clear stream.  In the background is a train trestle and we are hoping one is going to speed by so we can get a picture of us with the train to send to Jerry and Ben.
Little Fox: Sandy, we could wait here for a long time.  Let's see if we can find a train picture elsewhere for J & B.  I know a great place to explore.
Little Fox: Sandy, welcome to Hood River, windsurfing capital of Oregon.
Sandy: I don't think anyone is wind surfing today.
Little Fox: Let's explore.
Little Fox: There is still snow on the ground in Hood River.  This park behind the library looks beary peaceful.
Sandy: Is that downtown?
Little Fox: Sandy, do you want some hot chocolate? There isn't a Starbucks in this part of town but lots of little independent coffee shops.
Sandy: Did you say hot chocolate? I am in.
Little Fox: As you can see Sandy got a big size of hot chocolate to fortify himself from the cold.  He is enjoying the sun and the warmth of the cocoa.

Little Fox: Time for a rest.  This chair is perfect for Sandy and I.
