Mail Call!!!!

Hiya Blog World.
LF and the gang here processing some mail on a rainy November day.

First up is a letter from Snoopy, oh wait it's actually from Jerry and Ben. It's a super awesome Halloween card from the gang in the midwest thanking us for joining the Halloween contest. Us west coast stuffies think we should be thanking them for hosting the contest.
Little Fox got a postcard from team midwest (AKA Jerry and Ben). Quebec City has always been on LF's bucket list and according to J +B it's a great place.
Ben got to practice his French (comme c'est cool) and Jerry got to taste a maple syrup cheesecake.  Sounds amazing, LF doesn't have the French skills but could certainly check out the Quebec City cheesecake situation.

Sandy and Canadian Crew sent us a great Halloween card.  On the cover are animals decorating for a Halloween party.
Sandy mentioned that I might want to supply the mice with some Cheetoh's to keep the mice out of mischief.  I need to add Cheetoh's to my list.

Hmm, this is interesting It looks like Sandy sent a road map from 1959 of BC.  Is he hinting that the roommates should take me on a trip to BC?????IF so, Sandy might need to be more direct with the roommates.
Oh wait, Navy turned the map over and noticed a letter was written. Apparently, the map was sent to Sandy from their cousins in Germany and Sherlock Sandy deduced that his grandparents sent the map as gift wrap to the family in Germany.  That is so cool.

Sandy got back from Vegas and had an amazing Smoked Scottish Salmon Platter on toast with capers and tomatoes - yum.  Also, tried a few beers or two.  Apparently Sandy's humans realized that Budweiser is sold in resealable beer bottles.  Interestingly, Sandy said they don't have these types of bottles in Canada but in the USA, that's surprising since this seems like a more Canadian idea compared to a US idea.

Sandy mentioned that the humans went ziplining on Fremont street.  He did not make the minimum height or weight requirements.

LF always wanted to see the Neon Museum near Fremont Street.  LF's roommate said the last time he was in Vegas Fremont was still a neighborhood in transition - seems like things have come a long way.

Jerry and Ben's Halloween Contest

 Hiya Gang.

Little Fox, Navy and Cocoa Beanie here taking a break from hiking to work on our entry for Jerry and Ben's contest.
Let's see what LF did last year....oh yeah the Candy Corn Cocktail.  It was disgusting.  Bleh.

2022 submission is missing (Sekrebeary issues of course).

2021 was the costume "Twins"  and a healthy Halloween snack from Reindeer Coyote.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

However, this year we think we might have our most tasty treat yet - Homemade Pumpkin Ice Cream (ok, ice cream is a stretch, it's a banana based "nice" cream, but this year the treat we made actually tastes good.

Start off by getting quality ingredients.  Real maple syrup was key.  Cocoa said imitation vanilla extract would work.  I have learned that no one argues with Cocoa Beanie when it comes to cooking.

Of course you need bananas.  We used 3 frozen bananas and 1 brown banana.
You need to have pumpkin for pumpkin ice cream. Cocoa says canned will do.
Whirl it up in the food processor.

Freeze and enjoy with your pals.
Blog world wish us luck with our entry, we are going for the gold this year in the snack category.

Note to judges: Making a dessert is in no way trying to gain favor with Judge Jerry (however if it does gain favor then we'll take any advantage we can get).

Jerry and Ben's Halloween Contest

 Hiya Gang,

Time for our entry to the annual Halloween Contest hosted by our friendly Midwestern bears Jerry and Ben.

Baxter here and my co-host today is the one and only Easter Bunny.  Since it's near Halloween the Easter Bunny doesn't really have much to do so he's decided to help out.

The treat for the contest is going to take some time.  Our goal is a candy corn martini.
This is the professional picture off the website, we'll see how ours compares.
As any good mixologist knows a perfect cocktail starts off with only the best ingredients.  Brachs Candy Corn.
So far so good, that is until the Easter Bunny pulled out the vodka.  As you can see we have Burnett's Whipped Cream vodka (this drink is going to be sweet).
Apparently, this whole jug of vodka only cost $10.99.  Well, at least the candy corn are good quality.

Ok, let's get down to business.  5 ounces of vodka, plus 1/4 cup candy corn (plus a little extra to satisfy the bartenders) and we're off.
As you can see, the Easter Bunny really likes candy corn (makes sense being a bunny and all).  Infuse the vodka with the candy corn, wait 24 hours and then start making the drink.

Fast forward 24 hours:  The candy corns have dissolved in the vodka.
"This drink is going to be sweet, not cool but sugary" Easter Bunny replied.
"Yep" agreed Baxter.

Time to layer 2 ounces of the vodka mix with a couple of ounces of pineapple juice.
"Looks like carrot juice"

"What is the final step again Baxter?"
"Whipped Cream!!!!"
Of course it's time to compare our concoction to the picture from the internet.
"Our layering is off and we need more whipped cream.  But not a bad first attempt eh Easter Bunny?"
"More whipped cream for sure and a scattering of candy corns might help."
Editor note:  The humans consumed the rest of the candy corn with glee.

Thanks for hosting the contest Jerry and Ben.  Please accept this cocktail as our entrance into the snack division for the 2023 content.
Baxter & Easter Bunny.

Happy Halloween

 Hello Blog World,
Here is my entry for the 2021 Jerry and Ben Halloween Contest.  I am going as Danny Devito and my pal Drunk Fox is going as Arnold Schwarzenegger and we are recreating the movie poster from the 1988 movie Twins.

See the resemblance?

My pal Reindeer Coyote wanted to get involved in the fun (go Reindeer Coyote!!!).  He entered the snack contest.
This year he wanted to do a healthy Halloween Treat.  He has two mandarins and two stalks of celery.
Not the best final picture but perhaps you can see Reindeer's pumpkins.
Thanks J and B for hosting the Halloween Contest.  Good luck everyone.

Jerry and Ben's Halloween Contest.

Wish me luck stuffy pals on my submissions for the contest.

Costume:  Little Fox, Master Sommelier.
Scene:  Hosting a wine tasting for his stuffy pals.
Drunk Fox wanted to make sure everyone saw that he was having a non-alcoholic drink.

For the new category of Halloween Themed Dessert I searched the internet and came up with many ideas.  Here's my submission.  It's titled "Graveyard".  Chocolate cake, chocolate frosting and Milano cookies as the tombstones.

Dessert: The Graveyard

Good luck to all the contestants.

Mail from Jerry and Ben.

Happy Sunday.

Lightning, Big Bear and Odie and I were just hanging out this Sunday afternoon.  I was telling them about my winning photo for Jerry and Ben's Halloween contest while they listened intently.

As the Odie and  I are talking my roommates bring a letter to me.   Odie was intrigued since the letter was already opened.
Odie thinks that there must be something up with this opened letter that is arriving on a day that no mail is delivered, but we are going to have to live with the mystery as Sherlock Sandy is already working on something for the ministry of puzzles

Let's see what this card is all about.  Oh.  A card from Minnesota eh.    It's from Jerry and Ben.  They congratulated me on my entry to the Halloween contest and awarded me with my own Starbucks card!  Thanks guys.

Now that there has been a new category involved in the contest, blatant bribing of the judges, I need to consult some cookbooks to see what kind of treat I can make next year to send to Jerry and Ben along with my entry.    This dessert looks perfect and it serves two!

Thanks Jerry and Ben for another great contest this year!

In search of the perfect pumpkin for J and B's content

Oh hello there.
Little Fox at the helm of the blog today.  I am on a quest to find a good Jack-O-Lantern picture for Jerry and Ben's Halloween Contest.   No, I am not going as a goat.  Although I did see this cute animal on my adventure.
Today, my goal is to find a Jack-O-Lantern picture to enter into the contest.  Any good quest starts with lunch.  Yum, chips.
Oh my goodness.  A whole sub sandwich for me?  Chicken Parmesean?  Are you serious?  Is this my birthday?  Who knows for sure, BUT I am a VERY lucky fox today.
I can't wait to dig into this.
Now that I have had a proper lunch it's time to explore stop #1. I saw this pumpkin and it's kind of intersting but not really what I am looking for.
Now, why am I not carving a pumpkin this year?  Well, my carving team (aka roommates) are short on time this year and afraid I won't make the deadline.  So, Little Fox is going to find a Jack-O-Lantern to adopt so I can take a picture.
My, I hope this doesn't disqualify me....

Not to sway any judges but the next stop had lots of local honey.  Judge Jerry, are you paying attention?
The next stop was an ice cream shop and bakery and they had a Jack-O-Lantern to boot.  I like him but he's not my favorite yet.
Judge Jerry.....this place has lots of homemade pies.   Any suggestions on which one to send your way?
Okay, enough blatant bribing of Judge Jerry.  The next stop had a little Jack-O-Lantern.  Not too bad.  It's a good size for a little fox.
Same Jack-O-Lantern but a different view.  Better but I am not 100% sure it's the one for the contest.
This is a nice harvest scene.  Pumpkins, my Jack-O-Lantern, and an old box.  I think this picture will do.
Time to celebrate.  A mission accomplished.  I think I will have some cider.
Wait!   This cider sampler is missing one.  I need to have a strict conversation with my roommates about the missing cider.

Jerry and Ben, thank you for hosting the contest.  I can't wait to see the results.

Mail Call

It's been a busy week for a little fox.  I have been in the snow, keeping my roommates working hard, and making sure the house is running smoothly. Recently, I have received some mail.
This card must be for me, it's addressed to me and there are stickers of foxes on the front and back.
Sweet, a birthday card with my hero, Officer Nick from Zootopia.
This is a big card.
Let's see who it's from:  Allright, Jerry and Ben.  Thanks guys!
Speaking of Jerry and Ben I think this next package is from them as well. I can always tell their tell tale "signature"
Awesome!  It's my certificate from winning the Halloween contest (thanks Sandy for helping me enter).
\
There are lots of prizes here:  A notepad to write my thoughts down (hmm, buy more chicken).  Mints and coasters for Hot Chocolate. In fact I got two coasters so I should have two mugs of Hot Chocolate.
I also got some maple candy and a bear pin (just like Beanie).  Thank you Jerry and Ben.
Did I mention it's been cold lately?  I wish I had something to take my mind off of all the cold.  In the mail I got these cool postcards.  The one on the left if from Ajdin and the one on the right is from Ajdin as well.  Apparently, I got two postcards - aren't I a lucky fox.

Update:  Sandy was kind enough to send me a cool card as well.  I love how the fox (at least I think it's a fox) is inspecting the little mouse and how brave the mouse is.  Great painting.

Thank you everyone for the mail and prizes.  I appreciate it sincerely.
