Bear's Hotel

 Apparently before one enters the Bear's Hotel one must take a Southern Oregon adventure and in this case my adventure begins here:

I wanted the bear next to me to be my tour guide but unfortunately he has to "man" the entrance to the Bears Hotel.

According to the sign these are the places I will visit along my route.  Let's go!

Lighting was not great in the adventure but there were plenty of animals to join me along the way.

I would not want to mess with this wolf. He kind of looks rabid but I am sure he is up-to-date on his shots.  

This raccoon is pretty sly, I think I will make him an honorary fox. 

Now that my Southern Oregon adventure was complete I was able to explore the Bear's Hotel.  The  Bear's Hotel is where the Bears "rest" during the fall, winter and spring months.  During the summer they are displayed throughout town Bear Fest. Let's meet some of these bears.

All of this adventuring has made me thirsty.  Thankfully there is an old time bear tender with a cold beverage for this fox.

Who knew bears made such amazing works of art.  Can't wait to go back when the bears are on display during Bear Fest 2016.

Dinner for my friends

Hello Blog Pals,
Being that my roommates have Labor Day off I suggested they go to the store and get some special ingredients to make a meal for my bear friends.

First step was to roll out the puff pastry.  Then I placed some frozen salmon on the pastry.  I hope that frozen salmon is acceptable to my bear friends.

Step two, drizzle the salmon with olive oil, salt, and pepper.  I decided to put some fresh basil from the garden, cover the salmon with tomatoes and mozzarella cheese, and then bake it for about 30 minutes.  

 I took it out of the oven and had to wait for it to cool. About 30 seconds later all of my bear friends happened to stop by the kitchen. 

 Finally, it was put on a plate and served with a small salad (mainly for my vegetarian friend Reindeer) and then we all scarfed down the delicious salmon.

Shopping at the beach

My roommates took yesterday off from hiking (how could they?) and went shopping at Ikea instead.  I think they felt bad about leaving me at home during prime wildflower season so as a token of forgiveness they took me to the beach today.  We went browsing all of the little beach stores and found a store with some interesting stuff.

These bears look beary nice, I bet they know which stores sell fresh salmon and honey.

What kind of polite, kind, neat, personalable, friendly, sly,  overall cool animal is this????? Oh wait, it’s a fox (and some nice looking raccoons in the back).   I wonder if my roommates will secretely buy this fox and take it home to my garden.  It’s made of concrete so he is beary heavy, I will have to supervise delivery and placement in the house (or garden) if they buy him.

They didn’t buy the fox (drat) nor these gnomes but they are still beray colorful. 

After shopping and fish and chips for lunch we went to hike along the bay near the beach.  The Scotch broom was out in force and then looking at the Bay we were walking along I saw this strange setup of material in a row on the bay.  There were no clues as to what they were, my roommates think they were some sort of fishing devices but the mystery remains.
