Foxglove way.

My roommates, Sequoia and I decided to get an early morning hike in before the temperatures got too hot.

My roommates decided to take us to a place called Angel's Rest.  I petitioned that we extend the hike from Angel's Rest to Foxglove way.  Foxglove way is an out of the way trail that is overrun (in a good way) with lots of Foxglove. \

Along the trail there were other wild flowers.
I like this purple one.
Another nice little grove of flowers along the route.
Sequoia posing for the camera.
Through my direction and leadership abilities my roommates, Sequoia and I made it to the top of the trail.  Time to catch out breath and enjoy the view.
Now, we're off on the less populated trail to find Foxglove way.  According to the notes in the book my humans and I were up here in June 2014 and the Foxglove was amazing.  I am hoping for a repeat performance from the Foxglove.

Umm, this trail is a little overgrown.
The salmon berries have taken over the trail, so far.   Sigh, none of the berries are ready yet.
This isn't Foxglove. Three years ago the Foxglove was abundant this time of year.  Perhaps I am on the wrong trail?
Nope, according tot his hand made sign I am on the right trail. I haven't been to Devil's Rest and it's higher in elevation than Angel's Rest.  Go figure.

Is the Foxglove not out yet?  Was our winter too cold for this plant?  Do you think this is pre-season Foxglove?
It may not be a mystery for Sherlock Sandy and Dr. Ben Watson to solve but it's sure strange that there is no Foxglove.  Can't blame this one on Congress or the House either - perhaps the easiest solution is for Sequoia and I to come back in a few weeks to see if there is any blooming Foxglove.   Stay Tuned.

Long awaited adventure

It’s been a long time since my last adventure luckily my roommates thought the same thing and decided to head to the beach today.  It’s supposed to be partly cloudy and partly sunny, we’ll see about that.
Monkey decided to come along today, I am glad that she is always up for an adventure as well.  This bridge was beary scary to cross it moved a lot when my roommates walked across it.
I asked for an adventure and it looks like I got one.  The trail is covered in greenery.  I can kind of see the trail but not really.  Luckily there were not many thorny branches to scrape up my fur. Hmm, this was supposed to be an easy hike….

It’s springtime at the coast the flowers are blooming and one of my personal favorites is in full bloom, that’s right Fox Glove is out.  I know it can be poisonous but I can’t help but love the flower just because of the name.

The trees grow strange around here.
My roommates deduced that we hiked up into a cloud.  Monkey and I got wet (not pleased about that) but it was cool looking at the trees through the mist.  I wonder if we are going to see the beach from our viewpoint at the top of the mountain?
Ahhh, made it to the top.  What?  Where is the view?  Phoie, I guess we better sit down and have some lunch and maybe it will clear up so we can see the view.

This is about as clear as it got.  You can kind of see the beach if you look hard.

A pleasant surprise on the mountain lots of wild flowers which I did not really know lived here at the beach.  That and the abundance of Fox Glove certainly makes up for the lack of view at the top of the mountain.

Coming down I convinced my roommates to walk us to the beach for one quick picture lucky for us they agreed….now if I could only convince them to stop and get some hot chocolate on the way home but I heard them saying there isn’t enough time because they have some gardening to do……

What, no foxglove?

It's the weekend.  I better get my backpack ready for a hike. My roommates told me that there would be no hiking today. Instead you have to do some gardening and work on our raised bed. I think this is a good job for me to supervise. Where is my huckleberry lemonade?

Time for a break, my roommates wanted to sit down too.  No breaks for them, back to work.
Ok, I think they are done. Now, we have to build the bed. What? We are not doing it today?  Humans, hmmmmphhhh.

I think we should plant some foxglove and beargrass to accent the yard.  My roommates said the garden is for basil, tomatoes and onions only; no foxglove and beargrass in this garden.
