What, no foxglove?

It's the weekend.  I better get my backpack ready for a hike. My roommates told me that there would be no hiking today. Instead you have to do some gardening and work on our raised bed. I think this is a good job for me to supervise. Where is my huckleberry lemonade?

Time for a break, my roommates wanted to sit down too.  No breaks for them, back to work.
Ok, I think they are done. Now, we have to build the bed. What? We are not doing it today?  Humans, hmmmmphhhh.

I think we should plant some foxglove and beargrass to accent the yard.  My roommates said the garden is for basil, tomatoes and onions only; no foxglove and beargrass in this garden.

  1. Jerry says to be careful with foxglove; he seems to remember that you shouldn't handle it without wearing gloves...it might make you sick. Check with your local garden store just to be sure. Now, if only we could find a honey plant...

  2. Jerry is right, foxglove is a complicated plant (just like foxes) and I think your right, it might even be poisonous to certain animals (I don't like that). That's OK, my roommates vetoed that idea anyway.

    1. Jerry likes to plan Alums, they are beautiful. We have lots of Iris and Zinneas too.

  3. Oh yes, foxglove has digitalis in it - which can be used as a heart medication but... not raw in the plant. I would think Beebalm would be a good plant for the garden - to attract bees naturally which would then make honey... not quite as good as a honey plant but. Clover is good too but humans tend to see that as a "weed". But bees love it!

  4. Well Hammie, SOME of us are gardening already (Jerry grumbles), but LIttle Fox and Sandy already are well underway in their gardening efforts...save they have some weeding left to do.

  5. Little Fox, you are a beary strict supervisor. But sometimes humans need to be told what to do.

    1. I agree about humans needing to be told what to do, especially when it comes to deciding what to eat for dinner. They don't listen to me enough when that decision is made.
