A birthday for a little fox.

Party time!

Those two words are the easiest way to get Drunk Fox's attention.  Actually, Drunk Fox has been hired by Kermit to give him "notes" on his new comedy material.  Drunk Fox has spent lots of time in clubs, bars, and other drinking establishments so he knows good comedy.

As you may or may not know Drunk Fox is my only relative.  He's actually a very good uncle, he's always around the house, has sage advice, and is an expert on bar food.  He wanted to make sure he was around when I opened my mail.

It's one beary important day today.  My birthday.  That's right folks.  My roommates delivered some mail. 

First up is a card from D.W.D.  I wonder who that could be?

Oh, a handmade card.....I know who D.W.D is.

Droppy, Angus, Spunky, and Patch sent a nice card wishing me a happy birthday with lots of chicken.  These guys know what I like.

Jerry and Ben sent a nice message via email wishing me a happy birthday.  They mentioned it was kind of cold in their hometown, I hope they are stocked up on hot cocoa, cookies, and other assorted snacks to make it through the winter.

 Let's see my second card comes from Sandy.  I can see his signature stamp in the right hand corner.

Lots of stickers too.  I seem to recall that his grandma was doing some spring cleaning and getting rid of stickers.  I must be an important fox since I got three stickers. 

What a cool card.  Sandy wishes me a nice birthday, with lots of chicken and turkey and a few hikes thrown in for good measure.

Sandy has a good sense of what I like.

Do you see the mouse in the left hand side of the card.  This brings me to my next card.  It's not a birthday card per se but the timing is right.  The mouse reminds me of the rat and if you are familiar with the Lunar New Year 2020 is the year of the rat.  

My pal Julie Jane Zebra, Elsie and Person sent me a nice card for new year. 

It's a happy new year card. 

Julie Jane, Elsie and Person got a new rabbit this last Christmas.  Can't wait to meet rabbit.

Speaking of rabbits......the animal that represents my birth year is the rabbit.

Drunk Fox's Chinese New Year animal is the tiger.

Sequoia's animal is the year of the dragon (could you imagine how cool it would have been if Sequoia was born during the year of the dog).

As you can see, Sequoia is less than interested in his zodiac animal sign.

Valentine's Day weekend exploration

I hope everyone had a beary relaxing Valentine’s Day weekend.  I got to take a training trip (my roommates wanted to see how Sequoia would act in a motel overnight) so we went about four hours south to find a place to stay.  Update:  Sequoia did well, but we stayed on the bottom floor and the footsteps upstairs aggravated him so we learned that we might want to stay on the top floor instead of the bottom.  I see a lot of traveling in his future…

Our first stop was at a winery and sheep pasture.  The farm had lots of cute sheep hanging around and eating the weeds near the grapes.  The wine was beary good and the sheep were beary cute as well.   

There were some black sheep playing but being typical black sheep they didn't pose for any pictures with me. 

Next stop was a short hike to stretch Sequoia’s legs.  We went on a river trail around a large park.  The winter has been beary mild, in fact the wildflowers were starting to peek out (daffodils are already blooming).  I hope my friends on the East Coast and the Midwest have lots of hot chocolate stashed away for the cold weather you often get.

After a relaxing hike, my roommates wanted to see another winery.  This one had lots of land (you know for grapes) and they decided to get a glass to enjoy outside in the sun.  Sequoia got a chance to get out of the car and explore the winery (on leash of course) but he was very intrigued by the pack of turkeys wandering through the grapes.  I am just going to sip, relax, and repeat. 

Hmm, I might need a straw.

After the winery, on our way back we came across this little restaurant.  I put my paw down and made sure my roommates stopped so I could explore.  I got my picture taken, they didn’t even let me go in.  Hmph!

Looks like a fun place and the hours are great!

Day two: 
Time to head back home but my roommates must have been feeling bad for not letting me explore the Fox Den so I got to go on a nice hike.  I am excited because I feel I have some good pictures for Julie Jane’s contest (have you sent your pictures in?). 

Which way are we going?  Tough call.

 

Our hike started out in the fog as we went through a clearing with some old oak trees. 

Should I send this one in?

The uphill section of the hike was nicely forested.  It was foggy when we started the hike but we figured it was early in the day that the fog might lift.

Made it to the top. 

It's like I am floating on air.

Winter Weather?

Hello Blog Pals,
Hope everything is going well.  I am so excited to enter Julie Jane Zebra and Elsie Elaine's Photo Contest that I wanted to go out today and take some good winter photos.  I hope all of my blog pals can enter although I think Jerry and Ben have a distinct advantage because of all the snow in their state.

Anyway, I wanted to wear my new scarf on today's adventure.  My roommates said it will be too hot on our hike today (59 degrees and sunny) so I will just model it in the house.

Being an optimist I think I am going to try and find some good pictures for Julie Jane and Elsie Elaine's contest anyway.  We are off to the coast.

The weather looks really nice today, the trail is not too muddy today so that is beary good for Sequoia and I.

The hike takes us on a cape overlooking the Pacific.  I wonder if I will see any salmon or whales today?

Ah, I made it to the end of the trail and the start of lunch.

I didn't get the winter photos today to enter into the contest but the contest isn't over for about a month so I have some time.  

 I hope all my stuffy friends enter the photo contest.
