A hike for a little fox.

Yesterday was all about Sequoia.  He got to participate in the doggie dash a walk/fundraiser for the Humane Society and pet food companies had all sorts of free samples for him to eat.  I tagged along but was placed in a less than desirable spot of the backpack and then was placed in the trunk of the car for the ride home. 

Today was more about me so that was good.  A long hike up a mountain was what was planned today.

This is a nice trail because it gives you lots of scenery to view before you reach the top. The first stop was Hardy Falls, it’s a nice small waterfall on the way up the mountain.

The wildflowers were out in full swing today.  

I wonder what kind of flower this is?

I should inspect it closer. 

As we climbed the views got better and better.

 I think this is Indian Paintbrush.  As you can see my roommates remembered my flag.  I conquer this plant for Stuffies everywhere.

Finally made it to the top of the mountain.  Time for lunch.  After lunch I got out the flag, found a good spot to plant it and now this mountain belongs to Stuffies.  

 So my stuffy friends, come on out and I will be happy to lead you on a tour of our mountain but as you can see it’s a little windy on top so be sure to bring a jacket.

Post Script:  My roommates really like this picture of Mt. Adams and the flowering trees in the foreground.  It’s OK, of course if I was in it then the picture would be spectacular.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day everyone, I can't believe I have 50 posts. 


On another note, to celebrate the nice sunny day I decided to take the gang out for an adventure.
We are supposed to have sunny skies and 80 degrees this week (26.66C for my international friends).  I am off hiking today, Yipee!  

I met a new friend today, he is a black bear and he loves to hike as well.  Although his owners said that they sometimes forget him at home.  I couldn’t imagine such an abuse.

This park has lots of trails and it’s a free day because of Mother’s Day.  We are off to Hardy Ridge to see all the Plox, Bear Grass and other wildflowers.

 

I am practicing my camouflage routine.  Do you see me?

     

I think the pinkish flowers are Indian Paintbrush and I think the yellow berry looking flower is my state flower, Oregon Grape. 

 

 There are lots of orange flowers out today.  The guidebook says they might be wild onions, I am not beary sure I still think they are Indian Paintbrush.  My roommates aren't really sure either, thankfully our lively hood doesn't rely on us identifying wild flowers.

Now for my secret mission, claim more land for stuffies around the world.  This mountain doesn’t have a name, looks like stuffies are in possession of it now.  It still counts as claiming land if I didn't make it to the top of the mountain, right?

 

Black bear and I decided to claim more land.  It took us a while to get up the hill it was beary challenging but we made it (thanks to some help from our roommates).

 

 

Before we headed back down I figured I better take one last look before we head back down.  Mt. Hood and Mt. Adam’s were supposed to be out today but we only saw clouds instead.  I still see lots of hills (that need to be claimed by a certain Little Fox) and even a river to travel down.  I wonder what else my roommates have planned for today????? Ugh I just heard them talk about mowing the lawn when we get home.  I guess I better get my supervisors hat and a big glass of huckleberry lemonade to enjoy while I supervise the lawn mowing effort.  Someone has to make sure it’s done right.

Yipee, a hike!

It was scheduled to rain today luckily my roomates noticed that it wasn't supposed to rain till later in the day.  That means they caved into my persistent badgering and took me for a hike.  This is the area we went to but we never made it to the top of the mountain.

The first stop was at the lake. It was so green.  I kept starting at it for a long time.  Ahh, it was good to get out today. 

I took the flag Ajdin made and claimed this hill and lakes for Stuffies Around the World. My roommate told me the lake and hill already had a name, I reminided him that once the flag was planted in the ground the land now belongs to stuffies (I think I read that stuffies could do that in a law book or something).

We did some more hiking and I decided to rest on this bridge.  The water looks beary cold, I wonder if Salmon swim upstream in this river?  I will have to ask my bear friends if they know.  I decided to have a cup of hot chocoloate with extra marshmallows (fox size, not human size) and relaxed at the bridge for a while.

Back on the trail, we got to our stop.  I was fiddling in the backpack and claimed this spot for stuffies worldwide as well.  I think my roommates think my claiming land phase is going to my head.  Hmph, humans, what do they know??? 

One more glance at the lake.  I wish I brought a fishing pole, canoe, or at least some sort of floating device.  The lake looks so peaceful, perfect place for a little fox to learn how to fish or relax with a bucket of honey.  

Happy Valentines Day

I was relaxing with my friend Little Bear. We just finished reading our favorite book, has anyone else read this story?

A knock at the door, who could it be? It was the mail bear bringing my mail.

Then I saw another letter, who could that be from?  I think it's from Ajdin and Uncle Tibbs, yes it is!

I opened the package from Jerry and Ben and got this cool Valentines Day card.  Thanks, your scarfs look great in the picture. 

Then I opened Ajdin and Uncle Tibbs package and saw this neat picture in the card and a beary cool flag.  Look the flag has my initials LF.   I think I need to go hiking and take my new flag. Thanks everyone!
