Announcing the winners!!!

First of all.  To my fellow stuffies in the United States I want to wish you a happy Thanksgiving today.

Once again, thank you to all who participated in my recipe contest.  Although, I must say I am the true winner as I got to taste and eat all of the amazing creations.
Odie is telling me that if there was an award for dragging out a recipe contest I would win.  Odie seems so friendly, but he has a biting wit.

Anyway, in the category of heart healthy eating we have the delicious and flavorful soup from Beanie and crew.  The soup recipe gave me a shot to practice my knife skills.
Wolfy helped out.
Beanie suggested adding some cheddar cheese.  The soup was great on it's own but the little bit of cheddar really made it shine.

The next category is best meal for a pescatarian.  This salmon recipe came from a bear (go figure).  Ajdin  and company presented me with a very good recipe for honey glazed salmon.
Creating the recipe took some time and high quality ingredients.
However, the wait was worth it!
Thanks Ajdin and company.  You'll notice none of my stuffy friends in the final picture, the salmon was so good I didn't share.  Is that wrong?

The final award is for a meal fit for a demanding crowd.  As we know, us stuffies have very high standards and demand excellence from our sekrebearies.  If our high standards aren't met (hence Ajdin firing his sekrebeary before the holidays).  This recipe comes from the kitchen of chef Ben and professional taster Jerry and it's suited for the high culinary expectations of us stuffies. These two nice stuffies shared their meatball recipe with me.
Anytime you start with frying up a meatball in a pan then finishing in a sauce works for me.   This recipe also gets an honorable mention for the most versatile.   You can have the meatballs in a sandwich, leave the sauce off and have them in spaghetti, or do as J and B recommended cooking them in a mix of chili sauce and grape jelly for a satisfying appetizer.
Amazing how food brings out the crowd (now you see why I didn't share my salmon).

Thanks Jerry and Ben, Beanie, and Ajdin for the great recipes.  There are prizes coming in the mail keep your sekrebearies on the lookout.

Cooking Contest, final entry. B. Mouse

Hello Blog Pals ~
It's Little Fox reporting with a special guest on our final recipe from our April recipe contest.  Good help is VERY hard to find.

This recipe comes to me from across the pond as they say.  Beanie and crew sent a very nice recipe for a homemade soup.

Step 1: Chop onions.  This knife is a little big for me.  I hope I can get some help.
Humans to the rescue:  My roommates helped me chop the onions.  Not to bad either.  The smell of fresh chopped onion s brought out my new pal Wolfy.  He heard this recipe is vegetarian friendly and being one of the few vegetarian wolf's around he was up for a tasting.

Wolfy helped with the carrot and celery too.
Next step:  Add broth, tomatoes, and let everything simmer for about 40 minutes.
Sequoia is ready for some soup too.  Sadly, it has onions and garlic which aren't good for dogs.
When finished, ladle soup into bowls and storage containers.  Beanie says serve with some crunchy bread and cheese.  That mouse knows his food.
Thanks for the recipe Beanie.  We all enjoyed the soup.  Readers keep tuned for the recipe contest awards.

Recipe Contest - Jerry and Ben's recipe

Hello Blog Pals.  Today, I am working on a recipe from my friends Jerry and Ben.  This is their submission for the recipe contest.  Looks challenging, but yummy so let's get started.  Step one: I should read through the recipe to familiarize myself with it.
The gang says to use all beef or 1/2 beef and turkey, I am going to give that a try.
More ingredients: Milk and breadcrumbs.  Essentials for meatballs.
Chili sauce and onions.  Can't go wrong.
Snack time:  Every chef needs a break.  These grapes are fresh.
The pan is hot.  Let's cook.
So, J and B said to finish them in a sauce from Chili sauce and jam (yum) but I am cooking for a few special diets so I am going to finish them in the oven and offer the sauce on the side.   I hope those two aren't too mad at me.
Time to test.  Let me bring in my "expert" on bar food, Drunk Fox.
He approves (great recipe J and B).  Of course the smell of fresh cooked food brings out all of the stuffies.
Ok, Beanie your recipe is next.

Recipe #2 - Ajdin's Salmon

Hello Blog Pals,
It's time for another recipe from my recipe contest.  Today, I am featuring Ajdin's salmon. Ajdin has the coolest toys, here he is showing off his salmon puzzle, I hope his recipe isn't too puzzling.

Enough chit chat.  Let's get to work.
Step 1:  Get salmon and defrost it.
Step 2: Begin organizing the ingridients.  Lemon juice (what not fresh, ugh humans).  Oyster Sauce for a little saltiness.
Don't forget the garlic powder and lemon pepper.
Voila.  A little of this, a little of that and mix it all together.
Preheat oven to 375.  Layer a cookie sheet with tin foil, place salmon on foil.  Spread the sauce over the salmon.
Well, it's baked but I think it needs a nice side of rice.
A
Ah, this looks better.
Thanks Ajdin for sharing your salmon recipe.  Time to eat!

Recipe #1. Cake

 Hello Blog Pals!
Welcome to my recipe contest entry #1.  This entry is from my close friend, Little Bear.  Little Bear might be a cousin of Sandy's, Jerry and Ben but we're not 100% sure.  Little Bear loves coffee, anything Starbucks related, and is a guest judge at the International Chocolate Competition.  He shared a recipe for a chocolate cake with a cup of coffee in it, a box of pudding, and special cake flour.

I like Little Bear's thinking, start with dessert (hmm, maybe he is related to Jerry?)
Step 1, preheat oven.
Step 2, grease the pan.
Time to get supplies.  Oh my, Godiva pudding.  This should be good.
Premium applesauce and cake flour.  I wonder if the applesauce is going in the cake?
Tools of the trade:  Cooking spray, baking soda, baking powder.
A strong cup of coffee goes in this recipe.
Greek yogurt? Huh, what is Little Bear up to?
Ready to go into the oven. Now I just have to wait.
Isn't it funny how a fresh cake from the oven can bring all of your friends out for a visit. Big Bear, Drunk Fox, Lightning, Reindeer, Kermit the Frog, and Wolfy all make it out for the final product.  Little Bear informed the gang this is a low fat/lower calorie cake.  Hmm, who would have guessed?

Help! AKA a recipe contest for Stuffies

Hello Friends!
Little Fox here.   I am in a quandary. Please help!!!!!

My new friends Wolfy and Red are coming over and I have no idea what to serve them.  Red and Wolfy are new to the house and I want to be hospitable to them.  I asked around and Drunk Fox was no help.  He suggested making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.  I think I will pass on that.
Little Bear suggested serving hot chocolate.  I think I need something more complex than hot chocolate.

My first guest is Wolfy.  Being a wolf he eats ANYTHING.   Wolfy spent most of his life exploring his two passions.  Wandering the woods of Oregon with his pack and working for the WWF (not the wrestling organization from the 80s and 90s) but the World Wildlife Foundation.   He has decided to slow down and heard that he could retire at my roommates place and he is excited to start this new chapter in his life.
My other friend is named Red and Red is a Black Rabbit.  He is one of the few meat eating rabbits I know.

Red is from a winery in Oregon and has his own wine (it's called Black Rabbit Red).
Besides a winery at McMenamins Edgefield they also have a fancy restaurant there called Black Rabbit.   It has two $$ on yelp so it’s fancy and expensive,
I think I need to step up my game in the kitchen if Red is coming over.

Little Bear and Drunk Fox really want this dinner to be successful so they have offered prizes and told me to make it a contest.  So, what are the rules?  Well, there are no rules (except one recipe per stuffy).   The last contest my roommates were cooking for months (but were well fed).

Argh!  I need some help.  Stuffy friends can you send me your favorite recipe my way for my dinner.

Thanks for submitting a recipe.  Be sure to keep an eye on the blog for your recipe cooked by me for my friends Wolfy and Red (OK, Little Bear and Drunk Fox will be joining us as well).

Oh, by the way there is an extra prize category if any stuffy can find a decent recipe that involves the Diet Hot Chocolate that Little Bear brought with hm.

The last day for submission is April 25 .  Feel free to post the recipes in the comments or send them to me at lfox97123@gmail.com
