Time for a trip!

Little Fox told us it's time for a trip up north and who are we to question.  I do think this Kind Bar Mini is a little small for three stuffies to share but Little Fox says there are many Kind Bars around for us to snack on.

Once we arrived in North Bend (near Seattle) we knew we were going to get some good hiking in.  Sure, it's November but its not raining too much and the forest is so amazing right now.  First

Cocoa is going to take the lead on this hike.

Many-a-overlooks on the way up to Cedar Butte.
Made it, a short little hike in the morning.  The Cascade Mountains are so amazing in Washington.

Cocoa is quite the adventurer and she wanted to go to downtown Seattle. Of course, most tourists check out Pike Place Market.  Little Fox mentioned Pike Place has a heck-of-a cheese monger.  Cocoa is ready to find him.

Dam if I know....

 Hello Gang,

Little Fox here.  I am off exploring the Northern Cascades in Washington this week.  I'm pretty close to the Canadian Border but didn't bring my passport so no visiting my pal Sandy this week.

My hiking adventure is near Mt. Baker in Washington State.  The trail is called Damfino Lakes to Excelsior ridge.

According to the people I chatted with on the hike they said a young whipper snapper asked an old timer mountain man what the name of the lake was and his response was "Dam if I know."  The named morphed into Damfino lakes and stuck.

I made it to the lake!  The bugs were crazy at this time of the day.  It was one of the quickest lunches the humans ate.  Do you see the foggy weather, yep that's smoke from fires in Eastern Washington (8/13/21).

Next stop is Excelsior Ridge.   Yep, more smoke.
Note to self, come back when the weather is a tad clearer.  Mountains look cool.
At the top of the ridge.  A few different ways to access it.  We took the short cut, but the dirt road we traveled to the trailhead had a fork in it.  One way was to the trailhead, the other way was to Canada.  I should have seen if a certain Canadian Bear was interested in meeting up here.

Met some cool bears at the Air B and B.
Just in case you are wondering I did not choose the air b and b simply because of the stuffy bears but it' was a nice perk.
Time to rehydrate after the hike.
Where is this fox off to next?

Happy Labor Day

Yipee, it’s Labor Day!  What are we going to do today Sequoia?
Even though it’s supposed to be foggy today we decided to roll the dice and see if the fogs burns off.

It’s hard to identify where we are but my roommates and I are near Mt. Rainier Nat’l Park in Washington.  With all of this fog we probably won’t the mountain but you never know.

I can see clearly now, the rain, um I mean fog is gone....

This  tree is just my size.

Ah lunch.  What no trail mix?  What no cheese? At least we can see Sheep Lake in the distance.  We hiked by Sheep  Lake to Sourdough Gap (who names these places)  and ate at the gap.
The fog never cleared but on a good note we didn’t get rained on either and periodically the fog lifted and we could see the scenery around us.

Being that the first day was foggy we decided to tempt fate and take a drive to Sunny Yakima.  Yakima is on the other side of the mountains and it has over 300 days of sunshine.

Their arboretum is in full bloom.  Look at these flowers?

I bet this is what Jerry's garden looks like.

Spikey

Well, it’s time to start heading home.  Looks like we have time for one more adventure.  Off to Mt. St. Helen’s national monument.

The mountain is out today and even though there isn’t much snow on it, it definitely looks grand.

Spirit Lake is looking good.  It got “moved” when the mountain erupted in the stone ages but it’s recovering well.

The viewpoint we went to was called Windy Ridge and as you can see….it’s windy.  Sequoia likes the wind so it was right up his alley.
I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable Labor Day.  Does this mean that summer is over?
