Park City Utah adventure and new friends.

Hello Blog World.
Little Fox here.  I decided to take a stop on my way home from Utah to Oregon.  Park City Utah, close to Salt Lake City is a nice little mountain community.
Golf Courses aren't really my thing but I must admit it looks like a fun place to explore.
While wandering around the resort I came across a few cool friends.

Here I am trying to imitate this wolf.  HOWLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.
I have never met an unfriendly bear.
Another view of my buddy.
These animals were super friendly.  I decided to get a closer view of the area via a hike (go figure).
I like how they have to post a sign to be nice.  Let's see:  Slow down (this hike shares the route with mountain bikers), smile, and think safety first.  I can follow those rules.
Aspen groves.
The end of the summer wildflowers.  Do you see the ski lift in the background.  I appreciate how the mountain area is open to hikers and mountain bikers in the summer.
Do you see the butterfly?
An abandoned building?
Probably not a mine.  Maybe an old ski lodge?

I made it back to the resort where I had my roommates park.  Lots to explore but this fox has to get back to Oregon.
Of course there is one more stop before the nights lodging.  Lunch.  I have never been to a Zaxby's chicken restaurant before but being that it has the name chicken in it I am game.
Lot's of deep fried chicken.  This fox got a compromise.  Some deep fried chicken tenders on a salad.

LF Archaeologist 3

Happy New Year!

Being an
archaeologist is hard work and being that I work for free I figured I needed a break.  I decided I should take a hike.
It's beautiful at the Dinosaur National Monument.
I found a nice little hike to take.  Yeah, it's hot but this fox can handle it.

So many different scenes here.  Near the Green River it's nice and lush and about 1 mile away it's pretty deserty.
This hike gets an "A+" for the variety of terrain.
So much to see here.  This amateur archaeologist found some unique pictographs.  I need to text the museum with this info. This looks like an animal of sorts.
This one is in great shape.  The museum says these pictographs are from the Fremont People who lived in this area years ago.
So much open space.  Dinosaur National Monument has received the "Dark Sky" classification in that it's far enough from city lights (or any city for that matter) that you get a great view of the stars.
Back to the trails.  This fox has work to do.

Time for an adventure.

Hiya.

Edit:  This post is super late (go figure...humans) but LF here wishing all of my stuffy pals a happy Independence Day.  In the US we often celebrate with elaborate fireworks and BBQs at friends house where the American tradition of eating too much is often practiced.

Now back to your scheduled blog:
Sandy and LF here waiting patiently for the human to get everything locked up and set for our day trip.  Today we are going to the Oregon Coast and I heard that we get to go hiking!
Our fist stop is at the entrance to the Tillamook State Forest.
Who doesn't want to stand in four counties at once?  I think we are going to save this hike for another day.
Back in business.  We are waiting patiently while LF's roommate gets everything set up. Sequoia is coming so there are harnesses, water bottles and other items that need to go along.  Weather looks amazing!
Sequoia is ready.  Let's go!
Some wildflowers are blooming.  Is this SalmonBerry?
More flowers.
Finally gained enough elevation to have a view of the Pacific.  I am looking North but I don't think I see Mama's house yet.
More flowers eh.
Back in the woods.
Uh oh.  Now what?
Luckily Sequoia knows the way.
Our view from the top of the mountain.  Sigh.  Time to head back down.
LF's roommate knows of a little fish and chips shack in the town of Rockaway.  It's hard for these stuffies to wait patiently but we are doing our best.
It's a shack.  Literally.
Yum.  Lunch is served.  Two pieces of fish for me and two pieces for LF.
Some coleslaw to share.  Beanie do they serve coleslaw with fish and chips in England?
That fresh fish was really good.  I think I need to buy Mama a gift.  I heard that there is a canary that sells fresh oysters from the ocean.

Oh what is this area behind me?  It's the Port of  Garibaldi.  Garibaldi  is a very small town on the Oregon coast, about 745 people.  Some fishing but most people who work the boats live in Tillamook and commute about 10 miles to town.

DescGaribaldi

A small town but it's got a great place to rest a while.
A great adventure. Whats on tap for tomorrow?

Head West my friend

The Olympic Peninsula is a great place.  One of the things that's cool about the Peninsula is that you can drive to the westernmost part of the continental United States.  Sounds like an adventure for a little fox.

Ah, to get to the westernmost point you must take a trail to Cape Flattery.  I'm in.
What nice weather.
Boardwalks are always helpful.  They help keep fur clean.
I am getting close.  They had lots of viewpoints along the way.
Do you recognize those mountains Sandy?  It's Canada!
More secret coves.
The view at the cape is amazing.
Looks like there is an island out there with a lighthouse.  I wonder if they offer tours?
Lunch with a view.
Now that I am refueled I think there might be more areas to explore on the peninsula.  Lake Crescent Lodge (on Lake Crescent) is a cool looking place.  They have all sorts of rooms, cabins, and places to hang out.
Wow, this lake is really cool.
Sequoia loves playing in the water.
What a day.  I think it's time for this fox to relax.  Who wants a drink?
