Birthday Dinner for the Foxes

 Hiya,

It's been a while since this Fox got back on his blog.  However, the birthday events this weekend were super important.

I wanted to make a special meal for my pal (and fellow birthday fox) Drunk Fox.

Before we get cooking a little wine for me.
Some fancy coffee  for my pal Drunk Fox.
Kermit never wants to be left out of the action so he joined us too.
Now for the main course:  Salmon.
Tonight's meal is all about Drunk Fox.  He wanted Salmon Fried Rice and being that it's his birthday too I can only oblige.

After a little bit of time in the kitchen dinner is served.  Drunk Fox is being polite by using a fork, I'm digging right in.

Kermit wanted to get something special for the night so he got us both a piece of chocolate cake to share.

"Sure Kermit we can split this three ways."

Stuffie Holiday Celebration 2021

Happy Holidays Blog World.  Welcome to Stuffie Holiday Celebration 2021 (SHC2021).  It's me, Little Fox, and my dapper pal Bear teaching you about SHC2021.

First, to clear any confusion SHC2021 is not celebrated in December like other holidays, instead SHC2021 is celebrated in January after human holiday celebrations.  Why celebrate in January?  Trust me, it's complicated (however it has something to do with all the Christmas food, candy, and gifts  being on deep discount after human Christmas).

Stuffie Holiday Celebration always involves a check in with Santa Bear.  Don't worry, we're on the good list.
Besides checking in with Santa Stuffie Holiday Celebration is all about safety.  As you can see we have a nutcracker firefighter positioned next to the tree.
SHC2021 is always about hanging out with your pals. You see we have another nutcracker, bear, and a reindeer with a scarf.  We are just catching up and seeing what each other has been doing this year.
Squirrel and Mr. Mouse are back from their recent vacation to Jamaica.  The Christmas Stuffies have a condo in Jamaica where they spend the off season.
.
Lot's of elaborate food forStuffie Holiday Celebration.  Baked brie filled phyllo cups.  A delicious and easy recipe to make.
Bear is very intrigued by this recipe as it has honey in it.
Stuffies can't live in baked brie along (sigh)  so we decided to get some devil eggs.

Devil eggs, another recipe that was a piece of cake to make.

Of course one of the traditions of Stuffie Holiday Celebration is to support local businesses and give back to education.
Mr. Mouse took care of that.   Let's see, Tillamook Hot Habanero Jack Cheese counts as the local product.  Check.

Beaver Classic Cheese.  Beaver Classic Cheese is made by the food and science technology students at Oregon State University (GOBEAVS).
The milk comes from cows raised by the colleges agriculture program and cheese (along with other food products...honey, meat) are created and produced by food science students.  Products are sold online, at farmers markets, and at football games.  Go Beavs.

No Stuffie Holiday Celebration would be complete without a little homemade bread.  Wolfy has that taken care of that.

Every year Stuffie Holiday Celebration has a comedy show and this year is no different.  Kermit is performing his comedy routine "Kermit at the Christmas Tree".

Another great Stuffie Holiday Celebration in the books.  Hopefully 2022 brings you lots of safe adventures and fun experiences.
Your pal, Little Fox.

Stuffy Class: Comedy with Kermit the Frog

Little Fox here.  Our next Stuffy Class is a class in comedy, keeping an audience interested and how to get a crowd warmed up.  We are very honored here to have the one and only Kermit the Frog as our instructor today.
Thanks LF.  Kermit here. I am so glad you decided to attend my class today. I hope my class lives up to the hype.
Looks like an audience is already forming.  First rule of showbiz....never start on time.

An hour later my crowd is beginning to gather.
Second rule of Showbiz:  Never let your audience get too close to you as a performer.  Odie is pushing the envelop and is pretty close.  I might need to call in security.
Next rule: Timing is EVERYTHING.  My audience is ready to go.

Helpful Hint:  Start off with something tried and true. I think I might open up with the rainbow connection.
Rainbow Connection is always a winner.
To have good comic timing you need a good stage (sounds weird but trust me.)  Check out my impromtu stage.  My road crew is solid, they know my needs as a performer.

You will notice that when you are telling jokes it's okay to laugh at your own joke.  As you can see here.....I can't stop laughing.  The audience love it.
The final thing this class was supposed to address is how to keep an audience interested.  For me, it's not a real problem but I know for newer comics or rising stars sometimes you need to keep an audience going to keep the buzz alive.

My advice:
Only play in clubs where there are two drink minimums and if the club doesn't offer that service be sure to bring your own drinks with you for the audience. As a professional I always bring a jug of fine wine to make sure the audience has a good time.
Thanks for attending my class.
Kermit....out!!!!!

Mail Call

Big Bear, Drunk Fox, and I are enjoying a little comedy show provided by Kermit the Frog.  Kermit's been keeping a low profile at our place but he's addicted to the spotlight so we often get free comedy shows thrown by him.
Reindeer, our resident mail carrier, has a ton of mail that has been stockpiled up in his mailbox.

First up.  It's from Ajdin.  Who needs a return address when you have a stamp with your photo on it?
.
Ah yes.  It's an award for the Stuffie Talent Show.  I got third place.  Not a bad showing for this Little Fox.
In full disclosure, Kermit did help me with writing the jokes and working the audience.  This award belongs to both of us.
Next up:  A card from Bar.  Remember, Bar was helping out with Sandy's blog while Sandy was travelling this summer.
I bet there is a certain mouse who might recognize this postcard.  Actually, that is one of my favorite pictures from Beanie's human.  Thanks Bar.
Being that Reindeer spent some time at the North Pole and Drunk Fox and I came from Ikea we figured we were the best choice to present this next card from Ajdin.   Looks like Ajdin went to Iceland this summer.   Lucky bear.  I have heard Iceland is amazing.

Next up: Sandy, Jerry, and Ben sent a nice card (I always like Native American artwork).  They had a great time on vacation this year in Canada.  Exploring the beach, eating dinner at Grandma's and working hard in the kitchen.

A busy weekend for a little fox.

It's been a busy week for a little fox.  First off, I am beary excited that Jerry has entered as a guest judge, that being said I have had  many conversations with Kermit letting him know that he is an important celebearity as well.  Apparently, Kermit doesn't do well when other celebearities are involved.

The weather has been great the last few days.  It was almost 60 degrees on Friday and beary nice today as well.  I figured I better get to the mountains before all the snow melts.  It looks like there is plenty of snow to play in.  I am getting my scarf on and Sequoia is wondering what is taking so long.

The snow looks in good shape for snowshoeing.  There even seem to be tracks to follow.  Let's go!
A quiet respite on top of this mound of snow.  Me thinks a hot chocolate would be good right about now.

-----
Back home and back to work.  Being that the weather has warmed up it seems it's time to start getting the garden and roses ready for Spring.

I donned my supervision scarf and began the process of supervising my roommates.

Job #1: Cut back the roses.  The roses have grown a lot this winter and if we don't cut them back now they will overrun the yard.  These roses are thorny, best leave this job to my roommates.

Job #2: Pull out these rotted onions.  That's a dirty job so I will again leave this to my roommates.
Job # 3 and Final job:  Sample the herbs.  The rosemary did well over the winter.  I wonder if I can find any chicken recipes with rosemary as an ingredient?

Little Fox's Recipe Contest 2016

Reindeer has been busy lately working on his memoir and cookbook.  Being a vegetarian Reindeer in a non-vegetarian house is difficult for my friend.  Here is a sneak peak of the cover.  I am sure he will have some great vegetarian recipes.

The basis of Reindeer's title is what he says everytime my roommates add meat to a meal.  They made fish chowder recently and Reindeer was beary excited until they added the fish.  Once they made spaghetti and he was super happy until they added the meatballs.  Now, he will always hang around the table, watch the cooking preparations and then say in an exasperated tone,  "Another good meal ruined" when the meat, fish, or chicken is added.

Me, I am a carnivore and will happily eat anything.  I have decided to create a recipe contest to solicit ideas for my upcoming cookbook.  Food by Fox.

Rules for the contest:
1) Recipe submissions due on February 25th.  You can use your own recipe, one from a magazine, one from the Internet, whatever you want is fine with me.
2) Recipes can be for anything you want.  Fish, meat, vegetarian, you get the idea.
3) Any meal is open game.  Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Dessert, Midnight snacks; anything is fair game.
4) More than one stuffy may submit.  For example, Droopy can submit a recipe and then Spunky might submit a "little" something as well.

Prizes
Prizes will be awarded in the following categories.
Easiest Preparation
Coolest Named Dish
Honorable Mention
Regional Favorite
Judges Favorite
Easiest Cleanup
Budget Meal
****Note: A recipe can win in more than one category.

Speaking of the judges let me introduce you to everyone.

There's me, Little Fox.  Friend to all cooks, a self proclaimed expert on trail food and always happy to jump in and do the dishes.

Who brought the trail mix?
Drunk Fox.  An expert in bar food, drinks, and always knows the best happy hour in town.
Does anyone have any mixers handy?

Kermit the Frog: An all around good guy who can keep the peace at the dinner table (and keep the guests entertained at any dinner party).

Sequoia: Not the most discriminating palate out there.  His food philosophy is "If it's on the ground, I'll eat it".  Hmm, maybe I will use that as the title in my next cookbook.

To round out the group we must include Little Bear.  Now, Little Bear wants all the bears to know that just because he might be a long lost cousin doesn't mean he will give any favors.  Although, he is partial to salmon, anything from Starbucks, and the "finer" things in life.
Little Bear is curious if anyone knows any of the items on Starbucks secret menu.

Each judge has sworn to uphold the rules of the contest and impartially judge each recipe.  My roommates have been kind enough to help me make all the recipes and purchase the ingredients.

Ok, I am excited to see your submissions!  Send them off to lfox97123@gmail.com by February 25th!

 Thanks for reading ---
